Natalie Rodríguez Luxury Design is a luxury design practice dedicated to crafting bespoke interiors for private, corporate, and Head of State aircraft. As a design practice, they offer full-scope interior design services for both green completions and aircraft refurbishments, crafting interiors that reflect both elevated taste and uncompromising function. In our conversation, Natalie shared about their process, current trends in private aviation interiors, and how refurbishments have taken centre stage in recent years.
Becoming a VVIP Aircraft Interior Designer
Natalie Rodríguez Luxury Design is a practice focused exclusively on the high-touch design of VVIP aircraft for UHNWI, corporate executives, and Head of State Clientele. Our projects range from light and long-range business aircraft to narrow and wide-body transport category aircraft that are privately converted for custom use.

The moment I discovered this field is etched into my memory. I was just sixteen, telling my best friend in high school that I wanted to be an interior designer. She responded, “My aunt does that – but for airplanes.” That conversation changed everything. I knew immediately: this was what I wanted to do.
I went on to earn my Bachelor of Arts in Interior Environmental Design at the historic University of the Incarnate Word and was fortunate enough to land an internship with Gore Design Completions in San Antonio, Texas (GDC), where I officially stepped into the world of VVIP aircraft interiors. I remained with GDC through school, supporting Boeing and Airbus completion programs and learning what it truly meant to work at this level.
My career continued through design positions at AERIA Luxury Interiors and Citadel Completions, each step refining my eye and strengthening my understanding of the completion and refurbishment process. Eventually, after years of traveling for work and longing to return home to San Antonio, I founded my own design practice – not out of ambition to be a business owner, but out of necessity to keep doing what I love while staying close to the people I love. I’ve come to realise how right this decision was, as this work is now more fulfilling than I ever could have imagined.

Completion vs. Refurbishment
Every design studio in this field approaches aircraft interiors differently. Some may specialise in specific airframes or certain phases of the program – decor, layout, or detailing – but at our practice, we oversee the full design lifecycle from start to finish. Whether the program is a green completion or a refurbishment, we remain involved every step of the way, acting as both the creative director and the client advocate.
With green completions, we begin with a literal blank canvas – an unfurnished aircraft delivered in its “green” state from the OEM. These programs are incredibly exciting because everything is built from the ground up. We establish the layout, define the architectural envelope, and build every element to suit the unique spirit and lifestyle of the Principal. The process includes multiple iterations of sketches, renderings, material curation, elevation drawings, and custom furniture details. We work closely with the completion centre to ensure every detail is executed with precision and the highest level of craftsmanship – and that the vision isn’t lost along the way. Because everything is custom-fabricated, green completions naturally take longer. For an aircraft such as an ACJ320 or BBJ 737, the timeline from start to delivery typically ranges between 12 to 14 months depending on complexity and customisation.

Refurbishments, on the other hand, are all about transformation within an existing framework. The “bones” of the aircraft are already in place – layout, structure, and often even some of the materials – but the finishes, styling, and spatial intent can all be updated to suit a new Principal. Timelines are generally shorter (around six months for a full refurbishment on an ACJ320 or BBJ 737, less for partial scopes), but the design impact is just as profound.
We’ve seen an increased demand for refurbishment programs, especially in today’s preloved aircraft market. Layouts are sometimes slightly reconfigured – for example, reconfiguring a galley, adding a stateroom, or reshaping the main lounge – but more often, clients are seeking a full interior refresh that reflects their taste and lifestyle. Some choose to keep the veneer and update only the soft goods, while others opt for a complete reimagining of the space. Across both program types, we also assist with the amenity package – including china, crystal, flatware, linens, throws, and all the personal touches that bring a cabin to life.
The Art of the Timeless Aircraft Interior
When people ask about trends, it’s good to emphasise that while trends change, taste endures.
In some regions, there’s been a noticeable shift away from the opulence of 24K gold towards softer, warmer metallics like champagne and almond gold. Clients today want elegance that doesn’t overwhelm – interiors that feel like a peaceful retreat rather than a status symbol. The concept of sanctuary is more important than ever, especially in a world that constantly demands our attention.

Colour palettes have softened. Materials are more textural. Across many regions, we’re seeing a demand for interiors that feel like luxury resorts or wellness spas – calm, tactile, refined. Of course, bold statement aircraft still hold their place, where personality-driven design is celebrated.
Ultimately, the best interiors are those that speak fluently to the people who use them. And whether we’re designing for a Head of State or a private family, we bring the same level of intentionality and care to each program.
Every aircraft we design is more than just a mode of transportation. It’s a home, a boardroom, a sanctuary – and in many ways, a portrait of the Principal. Our job is to listen, interpret, and create something worthy of their vision and legacy. We’re honoured to work with Clients and partners who value craft, discretion, and beauty. Thank you to jetlogic, for the opportunity to share a glimpse of what we do at Natalie Rodríguez Luxury Design. We look forward to the journeys ahead.
